ISA KNOX Microfoam Cushion in Shade 23 Natural Beige + Comparison Swatches

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me by BBCosmetic in exchange for an honest review. My opinion(s) stated in this post are 100% honest.

*insert angelic singing*

I’ve lemmed so hard for this cushion. Once I started getting into cushion foundations I’ve been wanting to try them all. #gottacatchtrythemall does apply.  I have my fair share of cushions that are too light in general, too light for the summer but perfect for the winter, and cushions that are too dark in the winter but perfect for the summer. I’m learning to enjoy my tan but I seriously cannot wait until I get to wear cardigans again because the heat is almost too unbearable.

I asked BBCosmetic if I could try out this this cushion and they generously let me try it! Again, this review is 100% honest 🙂

I received mine in the shade 23 Natural Beige.

The case of this cushion is pretty cute; it’s pink and it’s pretty much a standard cushion case. I haven’t tried fitting any of my other cushion refills in the case, so that will be a nice surprise when I try it out.

Here is the cushion untouched. I love these shots. The sponge is pretty saturated with pigment and OMG, is the sponge really squishy. I was definitely surprised. In comparison to my other cushions, this is the squishiest, unless you haven’t tried the L’Oreal Lumi Cushion, then this is the squishiest. Not a complaint; just an observation. There is a scent, however, it’s just normal cushion foundation scent. It’s nothing that I feel is overpowering.

When you press the puff into the sponge, a lot of product comes out. I would definitely suggest not pressing really hard into the sponge. For some reason whenever I watch YTers do cushion foundation reviews, they always press so hard into the cushion – it drives me mad. One slight tap into the sponge will give you more than enough coverage for this product.

This amount is enough for my whole face, and then some with spot concealing.

This shade is a little too light for me right now with my summer tan, however, this would be great for me in the Fall/Winter. I do have to mention that this cushion does oxidize. It doesn’t oxidize enough to match my skin perfectly, but it oxidizes still slightly lighter than my skin tone.

For reference, I have combo/oily skin and this cushion pretty much lasted a good 8 hours for me, without primer. Once applied, it dries down to a nice matte finish but over time the natural oils come up. With that being said, I didn’t notice any separation or transferring onto my hands with this cushion. I would wear this again with a primer on my T-zone to prolong the wear/keep the oils at bay, but I would also wear this without a primer if the weather was feeling especially dry. So, it’s really your pick on how you would want to wear it. After 8 hours, I really didn’t feel this on my skin; it’s lightweight and didn’t make me feel oily. I looked shiny, but I didn’t feel it. My pores, while not completely blurred, didn’t stand out (which is great), however if that’s your concern, do go in with a pore-filling/blurring primer if you’d like.

I couldn’t find the ingredients for this; that was the only real bummer I experienced, but on the plus side, I didn’t break out from using this product.

I’ve compiled some shade comparisons for those who are curious. I basically swatched all the cushions I own. I’ve included the shade names as well, so I hope these swatches are super helpful.

Swatched in the shade.

The ISA KNOX shade swatched is what it looks like once it’s oxidized. A pretty good match for the inside of my arm, not so much the outer part of my arm. Currently, I match the Laneige Medium pretty well.

Swatched in the sun.

Overall, I’m definitely in love with this cushion and am sad I’ll get to take it out once it’s become Fall in San Diego. Many thanks to BB Cosmetic for letting me try this out!
